A centerpiece of our work is the building of relationships with former Leipzig Jews and their descendants. Since the year 2000, Maria Hoffmann is accompanying groups that are invited by the city of Leipzig. At the beginning, it was important to these people to visit the graves of their descendants as well as to drive to places like Prague and Karlovy Vary with which they connect wonderful childhood memories. Destinations were also places of suffering like the KZ Buchenwald and KZ Sachsenhausen. Today Maria and our daughter Judith are supporting survivors in Israel by visiting them regularly. These relationships have developed to deep friendships that led to reconciliation and healing.
About 750 years ago the prophet Isaiah shouted to his fellow human beings: “For the good of Zion I will not keep silent. For Jerusalem's benefit I will not remain quiet. I will nor kepp silent until its people's godliness shines like the sunrise. I will not remain quiet until they are saved and shine like a blazing torch.” (Isaiah 62:1)
On the one hand it is God himself who won’t be silent and quit until His people of Israel and the city of Jerusalem are filled with His glory. But the prophet Isaiah is also asking us not to be silent and quite when Israel is the topic in our country and the entire world. We are called up to raise our voice before God and the human beings.
In corporation with Christian congregations in Leipzig and Central Germany we are organizing to this subject evenings with worship and praise of God, a short bible teaching and of course a lot of prayer. These evenings are very different as well as diverse and are planed with the congregations on-site. In 2017 we are organizing evenings in the Gebetshaus Leipzig (prayer house), in the Pavillon der Hoffnung Leipzig (pavilion of hope), in the Elim-Gemeinde Dresden (Elim congregation) and in the Nathanael-Gemeinde Leipzig (Nathanael congregation). We would like to support the artist Rick Wienecke to bring his prophetic artwork “Fountain of Tears” (see www.castingseeds.com) to Auschwitz-Birkenau. This unique dialog between the crucified and the survivor of the Holocaust should be placed combined with a house of prayer, near the main entrance of the concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau.
Believers from Germany and messianic Jews from Israel are worshiping together the savior Yeshua/ Jesus. That is the simple concern we have burning in our hearts. We are coming full of humility to Israel so we can encourage and bless. Deep friendships and trust are very important for what could be created in the future.
God is using normal people like you and me. That is why everyone who has this concern also in is heart is invited to help us.
You can be involved in this project in different ways:
- support us in prayer
- provide financial help
- travel with us or initiate a journey by yourself
