Feast of Tabernacles – Sukkot

Location: Wenceslaikirchgarten, Am Wenceslaikirchhof 4, 04808 Wurzen

The Feast of Tabernacles commemorates the Israelites’ exodus from Egypt and their 40 years in the desert, during which they lived in tabernacles. During the festival, Jews build tabernacles (sukkahs) in which they eat, sleep (weather permitting), and spend the holidays. The festival is also a harvest festival and is celebrated for seven days. Fresh fruits and vegetables play an important role. We, too, would like to build a sukkah together in the garden of St. Wenceslas Church and then learn more about Jewish festivals and traditions over a shared meal. Children are welcome. Feel free to bring any kind of building materials from the garden or the forest.
