Hanukkah celebration in Grimma
We from the "Tor nach Zion" association also celebrated Hanukkah in Grimma/Hohnstädt. We met on a cold December evening in the cosy Göschenhaus. People from Grimma and the surrounding area came to celebrate with us. Everyone brought something for our buffet so that we had a richly laid table.

On a Friday evening in early December, we from Tor nach Zion once again visited the TfJ to celebrate together with the youth of our congregation. This time we didn't organise a Shabbat evening, but a Hanukkah celebration. Hanukkah means "rededication". This festival commemorates the victory of the Maccabees and the liberation of Israel from 200 years of Greek-Syrian rule. It celebrates the rededication of the temple and a miracle of light that the Lord gave in the temple.

Now it was time again. A year had passed since our last group trip to Oswiecim (Auschwitz).
On Thursday, September 7, we set out very early in two minibuses and a car on the long journey to Poland. We, that is 16 people aged 25 to 80 years. “Hopefully this will go well,” I thought in advance. “Hopefully we all fit under one roof!” As it turned out, this concern was completely unfounded.

From August 27 to 30, Maria Hoffman and Dorothea von Below were with me and leaders at “Fountain of tears” in Birkenau, visited the house of prayer of Mark and Cathy Warwick, the Jewish quarter in Krakow and the concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz-Birkenau.
