Israel Sunday

Once a year, the Evangelical Lutheran Church focuses on Israel. The date is based on Tisha b'Av - the Jewish commemoration of the destruction of the Jerusalem Temple and many terrible events in the long Jewish history. In the past, the alleged superiority of the church over the synagogue was celebrated. Today, the focus is more on honouring the Jews as elder brothers and sisters of us followers of the Jewish Messiah Yeshua. This includes an examination of the Hebrew roots of the Christian faith.
