JEWISH WEEK of the City of Leipzig
Review
Unfortunately, Avishay Golz was unable to attend the planned book reading "I'm looking for my family" this Jewish Week due to therapy. However, he sent a personal video message, which was played at the start of the evening. Maria Hoffmann then read out a few passages from Avishay's book. Afterwards, there was a lively round of discussions during which questions could be asked. The evening ended with a get-together in the castle café. In memory of Avishay's grandparents, the city of Leipzig placed a small sign at the foot of the lime tree in front of their former home.
Unfortunately, only 4 Israelis were able to take part in the visiting programme. We were pleased to be able to meet Moshe with Lea and Moshe with Jair again. This time there were also two survivors of the Shoah with their families: Eric from Chicago, who was born next to the Gohliser Schlößchen, and Sara from Peru, who was born in a women's camp in Leipzig. For them, the visit to Leipzig closed a circle.
It was a special pleasure to meet Avishay's cousin Michael Triebwasser with his partner Linda. As part of the visiting programme, we were able to attend the reception hosted by Mayor Jung, visit the HASAG forced labour camp and Makom, the kosher café at TOS Leipzig. These were moving moments for everyone involved
