Lecture evening with Johannes Gerloff

Review

Last Saturday, we had the pleasure of experiencing Johannes Gerloff in the castle chapel and in the Elim congregation. His view of biblical texts, sharpened by his precise knowledge of the original text, dispels many a Christian myth. For example, the sentence "God loves all people equally" does not come from the Bible. John explains that love is always reciprocal. There is no love without a response. Every person who has been touched by the message of Jesus has the personal responsibility to respond - with faith or with rejection. God has entrusted creation to us so that we can take responsibility for ourselves, for others and for creation. God has given us the choice of life and death, blessing and curse, so that we choose life. Israelis have chosen life and take responsibility for themselves, their fellow human beings and their country. When the war broke out in 2023, Israelis came home from the ends of the earth to defend their country. The Palestinians John has interviewed over the past three decades have chosen death. For them, jihad and death in the fight for the destruction of Israel is the most desirable goal. He has not found any Palestinians who want to take responsibility for their lives and the lives of their fellow human beings - exceptions prove the rule. They only ever see themselves as victims and Israel as the culprit for the bad situation. The West supports this view and only ever condemns Israel and pumps billions into it, which hardly reach those in need due to corruption and fantasies of annihilation, but are instead channelled into weapons and tunnels. Under these conditions, a so-called "two-state solution" is like a suicide mission for Israel. There seems to be no objective solution in sight. Without God's intervention, without the Prince of Peace Yeshua, there will be no peace.
