Performance at “Fountain of Tears”

Review

On Saturday, July 4, we set off for Oswiecim, Poland. This time we weren’t traveling with a group, but we were going for 12 days. The artist Rick Wienecke had asked us to open the exhibition, welcome visitors, and carry out some construction and cleaning work on the property. We were happy to agree.

On our first day, we met with Mark and Cathy, the leaders of the “House of Life” prayer center, at Café Bergson and had a good conversation.

In the afternoon, we opened the “Fountain of Tears” exhibition for the first time.

The next few days were filled with various tasks. Torsten renovated a small guest room that Manfred Hoffmann and other handymen had already prepared well. He painted window frames, floors, and bed frames. I tackled the overgrown weeds around the house, cleaned windows, and tended to the plants. In the evenings, we met with our Polish friend Gosia and Irma from the Netherlands, and we held regular times of worship in the exhibition. Unfortunately, there were only a few visitors, but those who came were very interested, had many questions, and this led to good conversations. It is a prayer request that many more people will visit this moving exhibition.

We also had an intense time of prayer with the leaders of “House of Lifer” in their beautiful prayer room.

On our last day, we took a wonderful trip to the nearby mountains with Dorota, a Polish friend and colleague of Rick’s, and with Irma, her friend from the Netherlands.

In the evening, we met up with Rick and Dafna Wienecke, who had just returned from the U.S.

Grateful and filled with many impressions, we then set out on our journey home.
