In mid-March, a group of craftsmen from the Ore mountains that belong to the Saxonian friends of Israel and I have been for another working input in Oswiecim-Brzezinka. A centerpiece of the art piece are six pillars that commemorated the six million murdered Jews during the Holocaust.

On these pillars, the tears will drop down. Steffen, an experienced mason was of big help. Beforehand Rick and Dafna Wienecke had collected with permission stones for the six pillars from the extermination camps Auschwitz-Birkenau, Belzec, Chelmno, Majdanek, Sobibor and Treblinka. With these and other stones, we masoned the pillars. Furthermore we were able in cooperation with our Polish friends to prepare the foundations of the wooden podium that will be built later on. In April and May, other working groups will come. The total artwork gets close to its completion. One challenge before completion will be the shaping of the floor inside the pavilion in a practical way and to transport the very heavy bronze sculptures inside the pavilion.
